In Melk, a family gets gifted an old rundown dairy farm, in a remote village. But as they begin uncovering some of the dark secrets on the farm, they come to the point where it is clear they are not the only inhabiting the place – there is an ancient entity that has been existing on the farm and is related to the dairy business. Mixing horror and drama, the film focuses on how family reunions and old grudges and curses interact in strange ways.
Cast:
Toni Collette as the mother
Finn Wolfhard as the teenage son
Katherine as the creepy neighbor
Positive Aspects:
The film’s setting itself is quite terrifying and gloomy, which contributes to the film’s overall story.
Toni Collete and Kathy Bates are an excellent once and both of them are unforgettable in their roles.
Horror scenes included here are original and well, some would say, contrived, but in a good way, making the film unique in the genre.
Negative Aspects:
The pacing at times is a bit tough as the action is not necessarily about horror so one can say more about drama.
Some people might view the horror scenes as unsophisticated or all too much of typical genre conventions.
