The Exorcism of Saint Patrick is a supernatural horror and a possession and exorcism film, which serves as a less than faithful re-telling of Saint Patrick’s legend. The film tells story of a contemporary priest who is compelled to take on an long-dormant evil in Ireland because of the legacy of Saint Patrick. As the priest encounters the demonic spirit, he comes across some worrying historical patterns which create conflicts rooted in faith and evil.

Positive Aspects:
Engaging Concept: The movie’s incorporation of a historical legend into present time horror of a quite interesting and gives a fresh approach to religious horror.
Strong Performances: Cillian Murphy gives a tempestuous performance as a priest tormented by his faith and the evil forces, with a great contribution from Ruth Negga’s part who brings some feelings in the story.
Negative Aspects:
Slow Pacing: The film is within its slowly building up section. This may not be entertaining to those interested in entertaining horror that has its pace necessarily fast.
Religious Overtones: The apparent religious aspects of it may not suit everybody.
