The year is 1968. As the Vietnam War rages on, anti-war activists converge on Chicago for the Democratic National Convention. The peaceful protests erupt into clashes with police. In the aftermath, seven activists, including Abbie Hoffman and Tom Hayden, are charged with conspiracy to incite a riot. The film follows their trial, a chaotic spectacle that exposes the deep divisions within American society. Kunstler leads the defense, battling against a biased judge and a government determined to make an example of the protestors. As the trial unfolds, the defendants’ various personalities and goals clash, but they ultimately find common ground in their fight for justice.
