With a focus on new stories shaping the continuity of the franchise, Treasures of Terror Vol 2 focuses on horror tales in the form of an anthology film. Each segment is a self-contained narrative of horror, with themes that include curses that befall objects or their owners, and even a range of themes such as haunting spirits, and psychological horror.
Cast:
Bill SkarsgÄrd as the storyteller
Anya Taylor-Joy as the antagonist who has been possessed in one of the other shorts
Lakeith Stanfield as a reporter looking for a cursed object, quite the skeptics
Positive Aspects:
A mix of an anthology film and an Almodovar which does make for varied pacing and something for ever horror fan.
Tonality is diverse to fit the stories and there is a good exploration of various popular stylistic approaches to the stories.
Bill Skarsgard is the one who steps into the shoes of the narrator and this makes sense as all the pieces are knitted together by a single thread which is made quite effective.
Negative Aspects:
Each story functions on its own also bears the burden of telling a distant tale so naturally some segments are underwhelming owing to lower expectations.
Unfortunately, it is not for someone looking for a customary storyline with characters and their growth and development.
